Science Bowl, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy consists of two parts: academic and car design. The academic competition is a fast-paced question and answer session with math and science questions. They have a regional academic meet in February and the winning team advances to the Nationals Tournament. The second part is car design and racing. Students follow parameters for their car design. The Regional competition is usually held in March or April.
- Tryouts: Open to Students in Grades 6, 7 & 8.
- Tryouts for the 2016-2017 team will be held after school on September 21, 2016.
- Complete and return the student interest form by September 16, 2016, at 3:00 p.m.
- Season: October – April
News: Academic Competitions
The Science Bowl Team from Daniel Wright Junior High School competed for the 3rd consecutive year at the National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C. This elite competition for 2016 took place from April 28-May 2, and was the fifth time in six years that a team from Daniel Wright was part of the national finals.
Representing the Daniel Wright Junior High School Science Bowl Team: Anmol D., Healey K., Ellen M., George P., and Praneet R. Mrs. Sophia Capelli served as the academic coach for the Daniel Wright Science Bowl Team, and Mr. Anthony Hafner served as the car team coach.

To qualify and advance to the antional Science Bowl, our team earned the Argonne Regional Science Bowl Championship on Saturday, February 6, at Argonne National Laboratory. Please see our press release for more information.
