Battle of the Books

Purpose of the Activity

Battle of the Books is a friendly reading competition between various schools in Lake County. Students compete as individuals on an eight-person team to answer questions in a Jeopardy-style competition. Questions will be based on the Rebecca Caudill nominated books.

Tryout Procedures

Students will take a written quiz to demonstrate their knowledge of the Rebecca Caudill novels. Each book will have at least two questions on the quiz. Students are encouraged to read as many titles as possible before the quiz. It is not required that students read all books on the Rebecca Caudill list to try out.

Make sure you have a permission to participate form on file with the club sponsor or coach otherwise you will not be able to participate in the program.

Number of Participants

Twenty-four total students may participate. Students will form three teams of eight students each which are then subdivided into two groups of four for the competition. Up to six alternates may be selected based on the results of the tryout.
