DW Ranked Among Top Illinois Middle Schools

Daniel Wright Junior High School earned an impressive #11 ranking among Illinois middle schools, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best Elementary and Middle Schools in the Nation. The ranking reflects the school’s strong academic performance on state-required assessments, its success in preparing students for high school, and its commitment to educational excellence.

This recognition places Daniel Wright among the highest-achieving schools in the state and highlights the district’s dedication to high-quality learning experiences. The U.S. News report evaluated about 47,000 public elementary schools and more than 23,000 middle schools across the nation, using data from the U.S. Department of Education.

To qualify for district-level recognition, at least two schools within a district must rank in the top 75% statewide — a distinction that underscores the consistent strength of District 103’s schools.

Principal Jessica Groncki shared, "We are incredibly proud of our students, staff, and community for their hard work and dedication that contributed to Daniel Wright being ranked #11 in the state. This recognition reflects the commitment to excellence, curiosity, and growth that happens every day in our classrooms. We celebrate this achievement and remain focused on continuing to provide the best learning experiences for every student."
