2nd-Place Photo Finish

The Science Bowl Car Team placed second after a photo finish in the finals at Argonne National Laboratory over the weekend. The team also placed second in the design challenge. Since January, the team has been designing, building, and testing various materials and applications of mechanics to build the fastest car. They raced against other teams in the region to place second. The team also had to meet with scientists and engineers from the National Lab to explain how their design met the criterion established for the race.

“Not only was it fun, but it created an opportunity for students to practice STEAM skills and communicate their ideas to real scientists and engineers from Argonne,” said Tony Hafner, who coaches the team.
