Math Expressions

Math is all about the exploration and discovery of different approaches and strategies to solve problems. In Georgia Voutiritsas’s Pre-Algebra class, students cultivate their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while actively engaging in group work through the use of the Building Thinking Classrooms structure. Students work in small groups on vertical, non-permanent boards, to solve problems such as the following:

“If Felipe plants b sunflower seeds in one garden and 5b + 10 in another, how many seeds will Felipe plant altogether?”
