Congratulations to sixth-grader Helen Zhang, who was named the Daniel Wright Spelling Bee champion after correctly spelling the word curriculum. Fifth-grader John Steiner earned the Half Day Spelling Bee title by correctly spelling porcupine.
Helen competed in 11 rounds against 30 Daniel Wright students before claiming first place. John went 32 rounds against 20 Half Day students to secure his win. Both students will advance to the Scripps Spelling Bee Sectionals competition in February.
