BOE Welcomes Student Advisors
The D103 Board of Education welcomed student representatives Jocelyn Jerome and Riya Dhondi who were the first two individuals appointed to represent the student body on the Board for the 2025-2026 school year beginning in the fall. In this new Board position, students will act in an advisory non-voting role to the Board representing their classmates’ point of view on certain topics.
"I will be a students advocate. I'm committed to getting students heard. I'm honored to be here," Riya said.
Added Jocelyn, "We've both been here since kindergarten so we have a good student perspective. I'm excited to have a voice on the Board."
"We selected these students to serve as representatives to the Board of Education because they demonstrate leadership, thoughtful perspective, and a deep commitment to their school community," said Katie Reynolds, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, who served on the selection committee. Dr. Reynolds went on to say, "Their voices will offer valuable insight into the student experience and their presence ensures that our decision-making includes those most impacted, our learners."
