Students Take Action and Make an Impact!
On a Saturday in January, about 80 students and adults participated in DW Leaders in Learning: A Day of Action! as seen in these photos. The event featured a mix of on-campus and off-campus activities, all focused on making a difference. Off-campus, students took part in wildlife restoration at Hosah Prairie and packed meals at Feed My Starving Children. On-campus, students engaged in meaningful projects like creating bowls for the Empty Bowls initiative and making sleeping mats for the homeless. They also hosted a piano clinic for K-5 students and raised over $200 for Hungry for Music. Additionally, the district organized a technology recycling drop-off, collecting two giant crates of tech for safe recycling.
“Students got off the bus from Hosah Prairie with stories of all they had learned and done,” reported Erinn Vincent, DW teacher and program director. “Today showed students they can have fun and make a huge impact. Many students left asking when we could do this again.”
